Water is essential for the human body to function properly. Regardless of the fact that the sufficient intake of water is very important for every function within our bodya nd only few people actually drink enough water every day. Sarah Smith, from UK, a 42 year old women mother of 2 young kids admitted that she wasn’t drinking the recommended 2 to 3 liters of water per one day. She explains that she had suffered from regular headaches, and poor and sluggish indigestion.
This woman went to medical professionals for both medical conditions and after the consultations she decided to listen the advice she was given: both doctors warned her that she has to drink more water. She decided to document this and to take photo every day about what will happen during her self-imposed experiment. Namely, she started drinking 3 liters of water a day, in a period of one month. Her intention was to see if there would be some improvement and if she could feel the benefits.
Sarah took a picture just before she had started with the experiment and noted: “I am 42, but have to admit I look more like I’m 52 in this picture, which is shocking. There are some dark shadows under and around my eyes, and that make me look exhausted, a profusion of wrinkles and strange reddish blotches, and my skin doesn’t have any luster. It looks dead….even my lips look shriveled”.
It is also very interesting that Sarah spread out the water throughout the day and her aim was to drink a big jug of water in the morning, another in the afternoon and the third she planned to drink in the evening.
After the first week Sarah noticed significant changes: her bowel function improved and her urine was virtually clear because the water was completely flushing out her kidneys that were dehydrated and poorly functioning. Moreover, she noticed sudden skin breakouts, which happened as result of the toxins that are being eliminated from the body. She explains that her headaches were completely gone and also, the joint stiffness that occurred right after she woke up in the morning was hugely improved. Experts explain that water is essential for lubricating the joints.
During her second week she noticed significant improvement in the tone and the general complexion of her skin. Even though there were still wrinkles around her eyes, she said: “they look less creepy and shadowy than they used to”. She noticed that her stomach is visibly flatter and the ugly cellulite had disappeared! That was the second week and Sarah had not experienced any headache.
During the third week, the woman had noticed that her dark circles and eye wrinkles have almost completely disappeared. Moreover, her skin looked healthier and plumper. During this stage, she noted that she was consuming a smaller amount of food. Sarah says that she had previously fallen in very common trap of misreading the signals that her stomach was sending. She usually felt hunger, while she really was thirsty.
There have been some studies to prove that even 37 % people mistake the thirst signals with hunger signals. The healthy habit of drinking a lot of water had prevented this.
